Our Matching Souls

Wedding in Church Hill and at The Roosevelt; Richmond, Virginia

He’s more myself than I am. Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same.

I am so excited to share this beautiful wedding! I first met Michael over FaceTime while he was on a break from his job at the hospital. I immediately loved him based on his easy-going nature and his sincerity when speaking about his fiance, Aleks. Aleks and him still had some wedding details to finalize so we decided to all get together a few weeks later over coffee. We finally met and I simply had a blast getting to know the two of them. They met at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville and both moved to Richmond to work in the medical field. Aleks popped the question in July of 2014 and they both just seemed super excited to start their new lives together... Oh yeah, I forgot to mention their new lives together would be starting the day after the wedding since they were completely moving to Germany! Their last day living in the States would be the day of their wedding! How cool, huh?

Michael and Aleks had planned such a lovely wedding day filled with family and friends that traveled internationally! They rented out a Air B&B home for the wedding weekend and decided to get dressed for the ceremony at this location. The home was lovely and right in the heart of Church Hill. They wanted to keep the whole wedding day in Church Hill since this is the area where they spent their first working years together. They love Church Hill with all of its beautiful historic homes, unique restaurants, and cool city vibe. Emmett, their cute black lab, has also spent much time with them in Church Hill so we made sure to have him be a part of the wedding day in the beginning (so cute!).

They held their ceremony in a small space called Reed Square right next to Libbie Hill Park. The ceremony was so heartfelt and such a celebration of their love. I felt so moved when the Officiant had asked all the guests to stand up to show their lifelong support and love for the two of them in their marriage. It really was such a lovely way to show respect, love and support. I love it!

All the guests headed to The Roosevelt (also in Church Hill) for a private reception. This amazing restaurant is is known for their incredible food and their delectable cocktails! Michael and Aleks had a few speciality drinks for the cocktail hour and then a mouth watering 3 course dinner afterward. Michael and Aleks really wanted to treat their closest family and friends with this intimate dinner and to be able to spend quality time with everyone who attended. It was truly a heartwarming evening and I feel so honored to have been a part of this day!

Thank you, Michael & Aleks! And congratulations again! I hope Germany is treating you well!
